Laurentian places 7th at OUA’s & Qualify for the CI’s.

The Laurentian women’s cross-country running team competed at the OUA championships on Saturday, placing 7th out of 15 teams. Running in heavy rain and winds on Hamilton’s Chedoke Golf Course, the Voyageurs scored 229 points.

Last year, Laurentian finished 10th at this championship.

Laurentian was led by second year runner, Samantha Edwards, who placed 38th in a time of 24:10 over the 6km course.  She was followed by 3rd year Michelle Kennedy who placed 40th  in 24:20, rookie Marissa Lobert who was 46th in 24:33, 4th year Adrienne Wilson who placed 48th in 24:44,  and 3rd year Katie Wismer who was 57th in 25:34. Laurentian Places 2nd at the Geneseo Invitational/Pre-Atlantic Regionals in NY

The Laurentian women’s cross-country team competed at the Pre-Atlantic Conference Regional meet this weekend. The race was hosted by New York State’s Geneseo University at Letchworth State Park in Mount Morris, NY.
 
The Voyageurs placed 2nd with a score of 99 points. They finished behind only Geneseo in a field featuring 250 runners from 16 NCAA Division III universities and two Canadian schools.

Laurentian is currently ranked 9th in the Canadian university rankings.

Laurentian was led by second-year runner, Samantha Edwards, who placed 4th in a time of 22:19 over the 6km course.

Laurentian Places 5th at the Vic Matthews Invitational in Guelph

The Laurentian Women’s cross-country running team competed at the Vic Matthews Open in Guelph this weekend, placing an impressive fifth in a field of 13 OUA teams. The Voyageurs squad finished ahead of McMaster, Windsor, Waterloo, Brock, York, Laurier, Nipissing and Trent, and behind Guelph, Queens, Western and Toronto. Their team score was 152 points.

Running on a fast University of Guelph Arboretum course, Laurentian’s athletes finished in close succession, with only a 59 second split between their 1st and 5th runners. The Voyageurs were led by second-year runner, Samantha Edwards, who finished 19th in a blazing time of 22:00 minutes over the 6km distance. Her 5 km split was 18:10, a 29-second personal best over a straight 5km.
